The Odd Couple

This is just one of those stories that make you want to say, "Awwwwwwww."
I saw this on the Drudge Report yesterday, and I thought the picture was too cute not to post.

This little 12-week old macaque was apparently abandoned by his mother. He was close to death when he was found on Neilingding Island, in the Goangdong Province of China. Apparently, after being taken to the animal hospital, he was not doing so well, at least until he started taking up with this white pigeon, shown here.

As my dad usually says, we don't usually give animals enough credit, they're smart than they think we are. Different people could choose to see different things in this situation, I suppose. Some could remark on the relative cruelty of a world where nature is "red in tooth and claw" and suffering is abundant. I choose to find encouragement in these little reminders of the kindess of of God. I firmly believe that He does care for all of His creation.

At any rate, ever since taking up with the pigeon, the little macaque's caretakers report that he seems to "have a new lease on life." - Link
