A Face That Anyone Could Love

Greetings, everyone!

Karin had her 4D ultrasound this morning, and I thought I'd post the face of the newest baby Holley! (Yes, the name is still pending... :) )

The ultrasound technician was able to grab a few shots of his face before he turned over and hid from the monitor. This baby is slippery. Somehow, he knows whenever someone is trying to meet him. He'll kick all day until someone is paying attention; then, he'll stop what he's doing and stay as still as possible.

The tech operating the machine said that the shots that we did get were actually pretty good.
At least he was cooperative for the first five minutes. :)

Obviously, he's got his eyes shut in all of the shots. We asked if babies sometimes have their eyes open, and the tech indicated that they can. I guess he just wasn't ready to show off those baby blues.

The orange tint of the pictures made me think of the "NASA Probe Takes Pictures of Face on Mars" stories I've seen on supermarket tabloids...
Seriously, though, he's beatiful, and it's so hard to believe that we'll be holding this little guy in our arms in about 11 weeks or so.
Here are some pictures of his hands...

The tech did make sure to tell us that, despite its appearance in this photo, the baby's arm isn't actually severed. It's apparently an artifact of the imager. I didn't even notice at first.
In this picture, the baby's arm is resting over his knee.

In the picture above, it looks like he's gripping something. Maybe it's the umbilical cord?

Here's a picture of his spine. It's a relief to see that everything seems to be as it should be. We've been praying for a healthy baby.

Stay tuned during the next few months. After the little guy is born, I plan to update this blog with new shots and family news!
